WILLIAM MYERS FINE ART
Founded 1967
Bill Myers began in the art business as a part time art store
employee
in Silver Spring, Maryland while attending high school.
He began
stretching canvas over stretcher bars for
Kenneth Noland, a widely acclaimed modern
artist of that day and now very famous.
Bill began drawing and painting
at an early age and enjoyed
designing homes, landscaping, furniture, automobiles,
yachts, equipment and other objects.
He excelled in design, fine art
and
the sciences. He often
created unique inventions
and started several
business
ventures.
Upon entering college, he designed all the campaign posters for
classmates running for college class offices. His first
gallery show for
fine art was held at the University
of Maryland in 1967 and was followed by one
man
shows in Washington, DC and
Bethesda, Maryland in 1968/69.
After moving
to Los Angeles, California in 1970, he began
a career in advertising as a design
and layout artist
with a small ad agency in West Hollywood, CA.
He was asked
to join the promotional staff
at Wally Findlay Gallery, International
in Beverly
Hills, CA in 1972.
During this period, Bill travelled throughout the world
and
purchased fine art that he would later sell to some
of the finest collections,
museums and private
collectors. He became friends with them
over a period
of many years.
Bill began his first private gallery in Beverly Hills in 1978
to
represent the finest new talent emerging from
Art Center, UCLA and other major
fine art
schools and institutions in Southern CA.
Clients included Frank
Sinatra, Goldie Hawn, Norton Simon,
Joe Weider, Donald Sterling, Larry Hagman,
Donna
Dixon, Sally Struthers, Avery Knox,
John Paul Getty, James Caan, Sally Cobb,
Arthur
Anderson, Johnny Carson,
Marvin Mitchelson and other
outstanding collectors.
Bill
continues to maintain relations with those who remain active.
He is presently
organizing exhibitions for both private and
public display, as well as offering
his services to those
who wish to start collections either for
private or
corporate venues.
